Our first ask is simple and local: New Hanover County should cancel its Flock contract. But plate-reader surveillance reaches across the whole Cape Fear region and up to Raleigh, and the officials who can change it are different in each place. Below are the contacts — email addresses and one-click buttons where they’re published, a direct contact form where they aren’t — with what to ask each one. You don’t have to reach all of them: send one message, to the office that represents you.

The county holds Flock Contract #25-0364, and only the Board of Commissioners can end it. This is the single highest-impact message you can send.

Beach towns & Leland
Three nearby towns run or host Flock cameras; a fourth, Leland, was pitched but has not adopted it (Town Clerk, Aug 2026). None of their elected boards has publicly championed the program, and none held a stand-alone vote (where they stand). The ask: cancel the program — for Wrightsville Beach, also release the withheld audit logs — and for Leland, don’t sign.

Pender County Commissioners
The board approved its Flock contract on a consent agenda in January 2025 (the record). The ask: put the program to a public vote and cancel it.
Brunswick County Commissioners
Brunswick County hosts cameras too. The ask: reject any expansion of ALPR surveillance and require public review of any contract.
Your North Carolina legislators
Raleigh created the highway plate-reader program (SB 409 / SL 2023-151) and made it permanent in the 2026 budget — both inside larger bills, so no one had to vote on surveillance by itself (how they voted). The ask: state your position publicly, and support repealing the ALPR right-of-way expansion.
